THE COTSWOLDJEWELLER

How it works

Simple, personal and unhurried.

Whether you’re selling a watch or searching for one, the process is clear from the start. You deal with us directly, terms are agreed in writing, and you’re never obliged to go ahead.

I.

Selling a watch

  1. Step 1: Tell us about your watch

Share the details you know and a few clear photographs using the selling form.

  2. Step 2: A personal review

We look over everything ourselves and come back to you, often asking for a little more information.

  3. Step 3: We see the watch

Usually at a private appointment, so it can be examined properly before any proposal is made.

  4. Step 4: A clear proposal

A suggested route to sale, such as an introduction to a buyer or brokering the sale for you, with any fee or commission in writing.

  5. Step 5: Agreed, then completed

Payment and handover are arranged and documented only once you're happy with the terms.

II.

Sourcing a watch

  1. Step 1: Share your brief

Tell us the watch or style you're after, your budget and your timeframe.

  2. Step 2: We confirm the details

We check anything that matters, such as condition, box and papers, and year range.

  3. Step 3: We search

We look for watches that genuinely match your brief, and tell you honestly what's realistic.

  4. Step 4: We present options

Each with photographs, condition, price and terms. Nothing is bought without your agreement.

  5. Step 5: View and complete

See the watch by appointment if you'd like, agree terms in writing, then complete.

Appointments

Meeting in person, by appointment only.

There’s no shop or showroom to visit. When it helps to meet, we arrange a private appointment in Cirencester or elsewhere in the Cotswolds, at a time and place agreed with you in advance.

If you’re selling, please bring the watch with any box, papers, receipts or service records you have.

Fees

Clear terms, agreed in writing.

Sending an enquiry is free. If we go on to work together, how we’re paid depends on the transaction. It may be a brokerage commission, a sourcing fee or a margin.

Whichever applies, it’s explained plainly and agreed with you in writing before anything proceeds.

Questions

Common questions.

Is an enquiry a valuation or an offer?

No. An enquiry is the start of a conversation. A watch has to be reviewed, and usually seen in person, before we can make any proposal.

Is there a charge to send an enquiry?

No. Sending an enquiry is free and commits you to nothing. If we work together, any fee, commission or margin depends on the transaction and is agreed with you in writing first.

Do I need the original box and papers?

Not necessarily. A full set can make a watch easier to sell and is often worth more, but many watches without them are still very desirable. Just tell us what you have.

Which watches do you deal with?

We focus on fine and luxury watches from established makers, but we're happy to hear about anything. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so.

Where do appointments take place?

There's no shop or showroom. Appointments are arranged privately in Cirencester or elsewhere in the Cotswolds, at a location agreed with you in advance.

How long does sourcing take?

It depends on the watch. Some can be found quickly; rarer pieces take longer. We'll give you an honest view once we've seen your brief.

What happens to my information?

It's used only to deal with your enquiry and is kept private. The privacy notice explains this in full.

Have a watch in mind?

Whether you’re ready to sell, or simply curious what it might take to find a particular watch, start with a short enquiry. There’s no obligation.
